Outdoor shower

Hello,

I’m in the process of building an outdoor shower made of cedar wood. The posts will be stained black, the horizontal planks will be stained brown. For those of you that have outdoor showers do you get a lot of soap scum on the walls? If so how are you cleaning it.

Our outdoor shower is built into our faux rockwork (concrete) We do get some soap scum, mainly running down from the "soap holder", when it gets bad enough I use a mixture of white vinegar and dawn dish soap. The bigger problem we are dealing with is the amazon "outdoor" rated exposed riser and shower head are showing pretty significant surface rust <1yr in

Funny, this was my weekend project this weekend. I had a shower there previously and no soap marks on the travertine or the brick on the side of the house.

In reference to the soap holder, I’ve read online to use dispensers for soap and shampoo. Seams like it would work.
Rusted shower head you may want to try a water repellent. Maybe a coating of WD40. (Thinking outside the box here)
Being that you mentioned it here, this is what I’m going to do.

Funny, this was my weekend project this weekend.

I like the fact you have the option to rinse off the feet as well. I had not thought of that before.

If you use a synthetic soap, you won't get the soap scum.

There are a couple bar synthetics (don't remember the brands though) but almost all liquid soaps are synthetic. (Dr.Bronners is not synthetic.)

As promised pictures of the outdoor shower.
A brief overview. The shower is 5’Lx4’W. I wanted it to be a tropical shower hence why it’s made out of brown wood color, the plants inside the shower and the tree truck that acts as a stand for the shampoo bottles. I tried taking the best photos from inside but space was limited. It has both hot and cold water. There is no drain for water runoff. The floor is pitched away from the pool and because I have sandy soil there is no flooding when people take showers.
Since the these pictures have been taken I’ve included a changing bench and added hooks on the wall.
