Is there a minimum height above ground for an outdoor pool sub panel? Also, can the sub panel be a disconnect for both the pool pump and the heat pump (using the two circuit breakers) or will they need separate disconnects in addition to the sub panel? Thx

Horizontally the panel must be 5 feet away from the inner pool wall.
You can use the subpanel as the disconnect. As long as the cb is within sight and 50' or less from the pump then you are good.
ALWAYS CHECK STATE AND LOCAL CODES.

Good stuff...

Electrical panels must be installed in a readily accessible area with a minimum clearance of 30 inches (762 mm) wide, 3 ft (36 inches or 914 mm) deep, and 6.5 feet (≈ 2 meter) high in front of the panel. The panelboard’s door (hinged cover) shall be able to be opened to a full 90°.

There should be no equipment within the 30"x36" clearance area.

Within the 6.5 vertical space, can the panel be mounted at any height?
why do you keep on asking that?

What are you planning to do?

A subpanel is usually mounted at a hieght where a standing person can reach it.

The area where the sub panel can be mounted is 3 feet of foundation then fairly new James Hardie siding. If I can mount it at top of foundation without putting a hole in the siding it would be preferred. The regulations don’t seem to explicitly mention height. Even in my neighborhood, they vary from low to eye level. I’m been trying to check with those that know before calling my town so i can discuss it with some knowledge of what the regulation really says. It may not matter, but at least I have done my homework.

I don’t see mounting the panel on the top of a 3 foot foundation. That implies the bottom of the panel is 3 feet off the ground.

I can’t visualize how you can mount it on the top of the foundation and not put holes in the siding.

Maybe a picture of the spot with drawing where the panel would be placed would help.

You will need to check with the Inspector. Much is left to his discretion. The code is silent on the topic.

I would think if the panel is securely anchored to the wall and is above any possible flood line the. It should be okay. To me the flood line is the top of the foundation and the bottom of the panel should be above the top of the foundation.

Actually, the top of the panel would be right below the siding, putting the bottom of the panel 2 feet above ground. I’m been pretty skeptical myself at that height. I’m going to call the inspector tomorrow and I’m pretty sure it’s going on the siding. Thx for help/opinion.
