Please help. I have tiny thread-like orangish bugs that are all over the outside of my pool- ladder, tubing, pump, and any thing that is in the pool- people, floaties, skimmer etc. How do I get rid of them?
No, but I've seen one of those before. The ones that I have are completely straight and can jump. They seem to be attracted to the light colored tubing, ladder, etc
Ok, I've checked all over and I think it might be thrips... But I still don't know why they are here and how to get rid of them. PLEASE could someone advise me on how to get rid of them?
What's your chlorine level, CYA level & what are you testing with?
Do you know how many gallons of water the pool holds?
What's the condition of the water? clear cloudy green
Agree SLAMing the pool could help...and minimal cost.
This thread has only 9 posts but has some ideas to try - some no cost, some minimal, and some expensive. Also had 2 great points that I will run with here for you - if you capture some and bring to local gardening store/tractor supply store/agriculture/college bug department/local produce expert/nursery/government forestry/govt agriculture department and either get free identification or magnify and photo - you could ask them how to treat or post the magnified photos online on the appropriate bug/agriculture forum. Other really cool point is that some of these little critters are transient and only passing through. Some people wiped them up with a cloth and that solved their problem - like dirt one person said in that thread.
Lastly, you could try posting pictures of whatever you can get with your camera/camera phone here or in a new thread called, "name this pool bug/insect/critter/little pest - Pictures" and see if that works, if so, link from this thread to that one please!
bromates aren't right if you have people who drink the water a lot - or animals that live in the pool - but if it is just humans who don't drink the water, it might be right for you, just search add borates and you'll find the sticky about it
