Ok to use Lowes or HomeDepot Chlorinating Liquid

Its great stuff (10%). Walmart has the same brand as Lowes.

Just check the date code to make sure its 3 months old or less. There will be a 22xxxxxxxxxx. # somewhere. 22 is the year and the next 3 #s are the day. Today is the 145th day of the year so a jug filled today would be 22145xxxxxxxxx

That is called Julian Day. You can check the Julian Day universal calendar at: https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2013/1063/images2/Julian_Day_Calendar.pdf

Adding to what @Newdude said: Avoid LC that is stored outdoors, specifically if it is not protected from sun light.

I mean, if you want to build up muscle by lugging around lower concentration liquid chlorine, then I guess it's doing harm since you're hauling less jugs? But otherwise no, it's the same stuff as normal bleach, just more concentrated. In fact it's recommended because you can be sure it doesn't have additives in it that bleach often does to make it scented/splashless/etc. Those additives aren't really good for pools.
