Hello my name is Carlee, and I am new to this site and somewhat new to having a pool. Recently moved in with my mom and step dad who have a huge 40k gallon inground pool in their yard and for 20+ years never even bothered to learn any maintenance on it at all. I have learned how to balance the chemicals in the water perfectly and basic maintenance of keeping it clean. However, I have noticed a drop in the return line water pressure and am sure that I need to replace the sand in my filter because it has been years since this has been done. I have a filter that has been discontinued and the parts I need to be able to put it back together after replacing the sand are no longer available anywhere online. I need to get another filter to replace the one that is now obscelete and don't know what to replace it with. It's a PacFab SuperFlow PF50 sand filter that is 22" and the clamp screws are rusted and if I undo them I will not be able to put it back together and have it be able to be air tight. Any advice you have or you can recommend what my next step should be would be very appreciated. Thank you so much

Welcome to TFP.

See if Inyo has the parts you need…

Welcome! If Inyo can't help, you can try the vendor below.

If the filter is deemed unworthy of repair, consider a new sand filter from Pentair or Hayward. Perhaps a bit larger than 22" to reduce the amount of backwash intervals. The size of your pool and pump could influence that choice.

Don't forget to update your signature with all of your pool and equipment info. It helps with replies. Have a nice weekend. :swim:

I hope I have updated my profile correctly. I'm new to this stuff and don't know how to check if I did it correctly. Tried both of those and neither of them have it. It says either obscelete or N/A on literally every website I have tried. This thing has to be 30 years old. It's been a great filter but if I can't find another tension band clamp I will have to replace my whole system.

Also, what would you guys recommend I replace it with? I have no clue anything about sizes or gph or anything so any advice will be so appreciated. I have been looking towards a Pentair TR140 or a Hayward top mount 30". I have been looking at those 2 because I have gone through threads and specs online while shopping for new equipment and those are 2 that are large enough to filter my pool. Sadly, I am going in this completely blind and wish I knew more or where to find information about it so I can make sure I get exactly what I need and don't make this experience a big mess
