Hi All,

I am looking to purchase the Intex 12x30 prism frame AGP (Prism Frame⢠12' x 30" Above Ground Pool w/ Filter Pump), but I would like to make it a saltwater system. The intex customer service people are saying that the saltwater system 2,200 Gal (Krystal Clear⢠Saltwater Pool Chlorine System - 2,200 Gal) will not work with this pool and they are trying to up-sell me to by a 16ft pool which isn't an option.

Does anyone know if in fact this saltwater system will not work with the 12x30 pool? Already planning on upgrading the pool pump that comes standard with the 12x30.

Any recommendations are welcome. Thank you!

Welcome to TFP! Did you make a selection yet? There are non-salt combos and salt combos. They should work with any pool to a degree, depending on the size of the pool. Problem is those combo packages are generally small (small filter, small pump) and in this case, the salt cell may be small as well. But as far as electrical and plumbing connections, it should be just fine. Intex (like Bestway and Coleman) typically have proprietary fitting sizes for hoses and connections, but the Intex stuff should be interchangeable. I don't see a problem if you wish to go with a different combo pack.

Thank you for your reply and information. If the fittings are proprietary we will likely go with the combo they have in order to ensure we don’t have any missteps.

We have not chosen yet. We are waiting on the landscaper to finish the leveling and prep work for the area. They are expected to be complete towards the end of next week.
