Hi all,

I am doing my due-diligence on my first pool build. My pool specs are below
  • 12'x24' rectangle with an additional 6'x12' tanning ledge
  • depth from 3.0' to 5.5'
  • 2 bubblers/LED combos in tanning ledge area
  • 4 deck jets
  • 1 LED light in main pool
After doing my research, I am leaning towards the following equipment
  • Pentair Intelliflo 1.5 HP
  • Pentair Clean and Clear 420 Filter
  • Pentair Intellichlor LT15
  • Pentair Intellicenter LITE with Wifi
  • Pentair Lights? (TBD)

The pool is located in south Louisiana, and no trees nearby. I am open to suggestions on different equipment or pool layout.

I would like to be able to control the lights and customize color from my phone. I see a lot of conflicting reports on pentair lights, so I am open to other brands.

I am also a data nerd, so I would like to be able to track water temp, salinity, etc through an app if possible, so looking for suggestions for things I can tie into the intellicenter.

Thanks in advance for the help!

depth from 3.0' to 5.5'
3' is **way** too shallow. Go with 4' in the shallow end.

5.5' is a bit too deep for people to stand comfortably. I'd suggest 5' for the "deep" part. (I have a 4'-5'-4' pool and those depths work great.)

  • 2 bubblers/LED combos in tanning ledge area
  • 4 deck jets
You'll likely use these far less often than you think. You may consider deleting them.

1 LED light in main pool
You'll likely need/want more than one. Make sure all lights point away from the house/main seating area.

Pentair Intelliflo 1.5 HP
Get a 3 HP pump. IntelliFlo3 is the gold standard.

Pentair Clean and Clear 420 Filter
Good filter. The CCP520 is even better.

Pentair Intellichlor LT15
What's the estimated pool volume? You want a SWCG rated for at least twice the volume of your pool.

I am open to suggestions on different equipment or pool layout
Post schematics/sketches.

Heater?

Will this be a plaster pool?

The more detail you provide, the better. :)

My daughter is 3.5' tall, I wanted her to be able to play in the shallow end without treading water.

From what I was told, these help to cool the pool when they run at night, which is why I added them. I'm located in South Louisiana so I figured this would be helpful come August. I would also like to have the sound of the water feature.

My PB informed me a 1.5 HP should be all I need. The pool will be just under 10k gallons

9800 Gallons. This SWG was what Pentair provided when I input my pools data on their pool calculator, but if bigger is better, then I will certainly upsize

Post schematics/sketches.
See attached (if i did this correctly)
I dont think it's necessary in my climate here in south LA

Will this be a plaster pool?
Yes gunite with white plaster finish

She won't be that tall for very long. :) You have a ledge for playing in shallow water. Go with a 4' shallow end.

You may consider an aerator if that's your goal. Instead of a narrow stream of water, install a device that creates lots of small droplets.

My PB informed me a 1.5 HP should be all I need.
Get the 3 hp pump. It's more capable and will move more water at a slower speed, giving you better efficiency.

Get at least a 20k rated cell. The LT25 or PLUS30 would be suitable.

Not a "need to have" but it's "nice to have". It will extend your swim season. A heat/chill HP can also chill your water in the summer.

I would reposition/reorient the ledge to create a swim lane on the long axis of the pool. I would also add steps to transition between the ledge and the pool.

Is that as long as you can go? Tat makes for some mighty short races or laps as you daughter ages.
3' means you'll scrape you knuckles trying to swim in it. I'm wit PJT- 4-5-4 SportPool would help. kids float on noodles, floating chairs and loungers, etc. You daughter WILL be taller in no time.
