Nautilus CC+ not cleaning the entire pool

Greetings. New to the forum, but have had my inground pool for 30+ years. My pool is a 16x36 with a hopper bottom and steps. I am running a salt system and love it. Opened my pool last week. Pool company tested water and everything is in balance.

Purchased a Dolphin Nautilus CC+ last week. Ran it once and it seemed to do a good job, except for the area in front of the steps. Never touched that area. So I have an are 6' x 12" that is still dirty. The dirt is nothing big, just usual sediment. Robot did climb the steps once, then walked away. Seemed it spent most of the time in the deep end.

I am inclined to let it clean again and see what happens. I had seen with other robots that when they first start, they map the pool. Is that what happens with the Nautilus?

Everything I have read and seen, tells me the Nautilus is a fine robot system. Hopefully someone has some ideas as to what if anything that I am doing wrong.

Many thanks for your help.

Hey! Welcome to TFP!

I have the predecessor to your robot, the DX3. It was acting strange this spring, so I bought an S200. The DX3 does a way better job.

I would suggest that you run it a few times a day as you are starting and I think it will find your dirt.

I'm super interested in your results when you run it a few more times. I'm thinking that a Nautilus CC+ is a near term replacement for my DX3 when it dies.

H,

Robots only do stairs by accident.

I know they all say they "map" the pool, but that is more marketing than real. They have to re-map every time they power back up, so it is not like they can actually learn anything by running again.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I have a Pentair Powler 920 which I believe is similar to yours. I've found that it works better if it starts in the middle of my pool - place it in the water at the midpoint of the longest side - than when I dropped it in the deep end (because it was closest to the outlet). I have a similar size and shaped pool.

It also works best when the pool is fairly clean. Too much dirt and it seems to bog down as the filter clogs up. If it misses a few spots, run it again or let it catch up next time it runs. I don't think this model has much in the way of "learning".

Your comments are very interesting. I haven't run it a second time, as I am waiting to get the caddy, which should be in this week. I will, try placing it in the middle and see what happens. Very anxious to give it another try. Will indeed reply back with the results.
Many thanks.

I have a CC+. I like it but sometimes you have to run it more then once to get the entire pool. It doesn’t get bogged down or anything, it just sometimes misses a few spots. I think it would do better every time if it had a slightly longer run time. I have mine outfitted with a switch bot, so I can just tell Alexa to run it or just use the switch bot app to start it again. Works great while I’m at work or too lazy to get out of bed to start it.

BINGO! 2nd time around, it cleaned the pool very well. The lady at my pool supplier told me to clean it a couple of times, as it will get better each time, and continue to map the pool. Not sure how the mapping works, but I am happy with the results.
Thanks everyone for your comments nd suggestions.
Hope you all enjoy your summer.
