Hi All - I hope someone can respond to this question
Had salt water pool installed last year- PB used nature 2 fusion 1400- starter cartridge is in now and forgot to replace after a month with all the horror stories I am hearing about this cartridge components leaking into the pool and causing stains, should I just not replace the starter cartridge and leave in there for good or do I have to buy a new replacement cartridge for $175 just to open that up and empty the balls out

Hope someone can guide me on what to do next

Thx all

You can leave the cartridge empty in the plumbing, as this will do no harm. However, how do you have a Salt Pool, which should come with an SWG and board, and still have a Nature 2 system, which contains metals. I had the frog at one point, but removed the system, and placed a chlorinator in line Anode, so it has everything.

At this time, I use the SWG, with an occasional dose of liquid chlorine.

It’s the nature 2 fusion soft 1400 so it has a salt cell and a mineral cartridge - how do I leave the cartridge empty in the plumbing ? It still has the starter cartridge in there from last year that I never changed ? Do I try to open that up and empty the balls ? Or just leave it in there since it’s prob been used up since it was only a starter cartridge ?

Leave the old cartridge in if you do not have the plug for it. PB’s tend to throw the plug away.

If the system needs the cartridge to operate with the salt system, then I would most definitely empty the cartridge out. The cartridge should have the metals inside. Short term, I do not believe this will do any harm. I used mine for 6 months and then left it empty when I switched to liquid chlorine. Eventually, when the SWG was installed, we removed the FROG completely.

Can you please attach some pictures of the system? If your levels are within range, and you brush the pool or use a robot at least twice weekly, the probability of you running into problems is slim to none. There is no need for any extra magic potions.

I looked at the unit on line, and this is new to the industry, I guess. It appears that they are coming up with ways where you have to purchase the replacment, etc. If you can not empty the system, then operate the cell only. Eventually the metals should dissolve (I assume), if that is the design.

PB's receive compensation from selling these types of units. If not, why would they ever have installed the FROG in my system.
