My Tiger Shark QC is officially retired! Looking at a Dolphin.

I‘ve been limping along my TS QC because my Polaris 9550 investment was worthless IMO. Well, the impeller pump just broke on the TS, so the whole thing got launched across the yard and subsequently tossed into the trash can. Now I’m stuck with a like new, but Sun faded 9550 sport because it basically sat outside the pool deck for the past 2 years while the old TS beast did the dirty work. 😂.
At this point I’m looking hard at the Dolphin Premier. Is this worth the $1400 sale price tag, or am I going to be disappointed like I am with the Polaris? Am I better off just going with one of their $7-800 models? I don’t mind spending the money if it’s worth it, but I don’t like wasting money either.
Also looking at the Polaris P825, maybe?

33,

I had a Dolphin Premier and they are an older design than the current S200 'style' robots. It worked ok and lasted about 7 years, but it was not worth the $1200 I paid for it at the time. It had a remote, which was useless.. It has two small filter baskets and they are harder to clean then the current models.

I would buy two $700 robots before I would buy one $1,400 robot.

I suggest that you call Margaret at Marina Pool and Spa and see what they can do for you. Best prices, no tax, 2 day free shipping.

My experience on maintaining a Tigershark QC was horrible. They are pita to work on to begin with and mine would wear out and spit out bearings in the pool - wear parts were expensive. I consider mine a bad purchase and glad it is gone.

The S200 style is infinitely easier to work on and clean, cleans about the same. Agree with Jim's assessment above. Nevertheless, budget about $200/year to have a robot (any robot) - if you get 4 good years out of it you're golden.

I'm assuming the s200 is the same as the e20? This whole thing with relabeling model numbers like a mattress store is ridiculous. It seems the e20 is only good up to 32' pools, and mine is a bit longer. The E20 will not clean the water line, but the s200 will? Seems like the next step up is the e30 which puts me back up to the $1k mark. In that case, I might as well spend a couple extra hundred and get the top of the line model. Obviously the Premier looks to be the same as the tried and true model, but they claim a bunch of improvements. I don't know, it just seems like if you spend under $1k you're basically supposed to expect a less than stellar cleaning job. What's the point of buying any of these if they can't do the function they were designed to do?

Call Marina. Not sure where you are seeing the pricing, but call Marina.

The E30 is sort of equivalent to the S200.

33,

If you are not buying your robot from Marina Pool and Spa, you are spending too much..

Here is another robot to look at...

Thanks,
