I need to clean my cartridge filters, and will be using the dishwasher detergent soak, followed by a muriatic acid dip. I have a 30-gal galvanized steel garbage can, but it's pretty gross. I was thinking about just lining it with a contractor bag, which I guess would be fine for the detergent soak, but will the acid dissolve the bag? Thx.

I didn't realize I did that. Usually, I use that "location" for sites that have absolutely no need to know where I live. 
No. The acid won't dissolve the bag. Just be careful not to create any leaks, because the acid will make short work of the galvanizing in the can. I'd double bag.
Thanks. I don't need to soak in the acid very long, correct? Just until the bubbling stops?
I wouldn't know. Never soaked a filter in acid personally. I just know polypropylene and polyethylene are acid-safe.
