Mosquito Magnet?

They are driving us crazy. Mosquitos are soooooooo terrible this year. Or maybe we just never noticed before because we weren’t outside much in the pre pool years. 9pm hits and we can’t even swim. Weekdays I work from 5 or 6 am until 6 to 8pm. So my swim time is at night and the family tends to join me.

Do these mosquito magnets work? I know they catch mosquitos by the pound, I’ve seen the honest YouTube reviews. I want to know if they keep the bugs off me.

A buddy of mine in PEI swears by his. I haven't felt the need for one where we are currently. I was at my brother's place a few weeks back for his 40th (they live by the arena in Uxbridge) and we were eaten alive as soon as the sun went down. If I was still in Ux I'd spend the money just for the chance of it helping. When I lived in Greenbank we were never outside after dark due to those buggers...

Mosquito magnets absolutely work. I've had one for years. Here's the thing: you set it up in April. You run it for weeks and catch nothing. Then, for one week, you don't know which one, but for one week, you catch a MILLION mosquitoes. The whole net gets completely full. It's disgusting. You empty it out, and then nothing again for the rest of the season.

So, you only really "use" it for one week. But it kills all the mosquitoes and you don't have them the whole season. Cause they're dead.

Thanks guys. so what I have been reading on Amazon reviews, confirms what you guys are saying. The big issue most people say is that they are in constant need of replacement or repair. So now I'm wondering what brand to get. There are a dozen people making these. I gotta do more research.

I've had mine for years with no issue. Maybe I got lucky with mine. Maybe I'm more careful with mine. I don't know. I have the MM Patriot. It plugs in, basically to run a fan.
Keep up on the propane (every 21 days or so), replace the net once per season. When replacing the propane, make sure to blow out the lines with the CO2 cartridge, and make sure to replace the attractant thing.

Don't skimp out, do it right, and hopefully you won't have any problems with your unit. It isn't particularly cheap. But it does solve the mosquito problem. My 2c.

Using mine about 4 years now. The most important part is to get it running before the season starts. Since your are at mid season, it will work but better next year. I would get the one that connects to an outlet, battery ones are more of a hassle.
