I'm in the processing of lowering TA. After pH drops to 7, I'm aerating to bring up to 8 before adding more muriatic acid. Is there a reason why I shouldn't use 20 Mule Team Borax to raise the pH more quickly? I know this raising/lowering is a slow process but sometimes it takes a few days to get pH back up before I can add more MA.

The borax will add alkalinity.
You are using aeration to out gas the CO2 in the water. That allows the pH to rise.

While it will increase the pH, it can also raises the TA level just a little. Probably something you're trying to avoid.

Borax raises total alkalinity too. You would be fighting yourself.
