I have a fiberglass pool and have been told that I should not use acid to lower the pH as it can degrade the fiberglass. What other options are out there to lower my pH and Total Alkalinity. I currently use a combination of liquid chlorine and cal-hypo for my sanitizers.

Welcome to TFP!

Well, except for CO2 injection systems typically only found on large commercial setups, there's no way to lower pH other than acid. Such a setup also does not lower TA, so acid is always required in a pool.

Not sure who told you this, but there are hundreds on the forum who use acid in their fiberglass pool to no ill effect. The important thing is to make sure it is well circulated. Adding acid without the pump running can cause problems for any type of pool, but when added slowly in front of a return while the pump is running at a high speed will circulate it well enough to not affect the finish.

I premix carefully in a 5 gal bucket with pool water and pour sloooooooly in front of a return with the pump on high.
That is unnecessary and dangerous. It is best to not handle muriatic acid twice like that. I just pour the acid in at the return. It will not harm the fiberglass. Mine is fine, 6 years of doing what I do. And I add acid twice a week.
