Wife and I are in the process of building a new home with a pool. We have gone in way too many directions in trying to decide on a pool finish. The whole lineup of pool finishes by NPT is offered to us by PB. We chose Stonescapes Aqua White Mini Pebbles as a color we both like and for durability. Aqua Cool seems to not quite have enough color and Aqua Blue seems to have too much blue. Let's just assume for the sake of this conversation that we're good with the Aqua White color. After looking some more I saw the Touch of Glass finish in Aqua White. There is a distinct aqua (duh!) glass pebble that is not in the Mini Pebbles finish. I really like the addition of the glass pebble as it seems to add some sparkle that's not in the Mini Pebbles.
So here's my two questions:
1. The literature from Stonescapes Touch of Glass specifically quotes in regard to the amount of glass beads "From a subtle sprinkling, to an equal measure of pebble and glass beads." I'm assuming the amount of glass added should intensify the color but not really change the color? Does anyone have some guidance or experience with various amounts added?
2. Will adding too great an amount of glass beads start to make any surfaces, particularly steps, slippery?

Here is a thread, well two of them, that talks about adding extra beads and the effects on the water. I don't think the extra made it slippery as the plaster will help with that:

We picked the same color, but still under construction. I'm considering adding some glass and sparkle as well and here is how our builder described the options: A touch of glass (small beads same color), Puerto Rican Blend (Larger, multi color beads), and abalone (shell). May go with 2 of the above options depending on price. Builder says the same amount of additional labor would be involved with 2 vs 1 so just material cost after the first "upgrade" if that helps.

YouTube has an "Aqua White Pool Finish Review" (5:20) if you have not already found it. I like it and he used the shells.

Also our construction manager said that Tropics Blue was his favorite hands down. That water color is a tad darker than I like (what my wife said we could have:giggle:), but it comes with glass and shell as part of the mix which sent me looking at pool finishes after several months of content with straight up Aqua White, wich we're still going with in some form or fashion.

Hope that helps.
