Looking for Affordable Pool Sun Shade Ideas

@Dirk describe his in this thread...

There are all kinds sails, all kinds of brands, and the price range is huge. From shade tarps to full on structural sails. If you want the very best, and you want it to last, look here:

June 30 will be my shade sail's birthday. It'll be turning NINE! It looks just as it did when I first installed it. I couldn't be more pleased with the value I've gotten. I do take it down for about half the year, so I figure that is almost doubling its longevity. At this rate, I might get 20 years out of it.

PS. "Affordable" is a relative term. If you mean you want any kind of shade for cheap, there are lots of options. If you want to have a product that will last decades and defer its initial cost over many, many years, thereby being the most cost effective solution long term, then there are different options.

My next door neighbor just put a sail up over his pool yesterday and just in time to be tested by a monsoon storm last night. The one he got from Amazon is way too large in length and width. When at rest it sags too low to walk under and in the wind it flaps up and down in huge movements. I'm surprised he has even left it up. Be very careful how you measure for what you need. Remember that it will sag a bit in the center so the posts need to be high enough to counter that and then you don't want the sail to actually reach all of the attachment points. If that happens, like my neighbor, there is no slack to pull out of the sail to make it stiffer.
