Sta-Rite intellipro VS 3050,(P6E6VS4H-209L) I replaced shaft seal, seal plate, impeller, and diffuser. I have a leaking when connecting the pump at seal plate to the housing. A new O-ring is used and I have Clamped it tight tapping it as it was being tightened. It seams like the pump goes into the housing so far and the O-ring should be larger in diameter(thickness). I am not sure if the Clamp has to be put on with the hand screw facing in a certain direction or not.

1) Why did you replace all of the parts you describe?
2)How bad is the leak? does it pour out? or just a steady drip? etc.
3) Was your reason for taking the pump apart because of a leak?
4) The clamp knob position does not matter, but usually the knob will be positioned at the top, with the knob to the right when facing pump.

I had to replace the shaft seal and the seal plate had a fine crack at the shaft seal bearing area so I replace the seal plate. The impeller had some wear on the diffuser end and the diffuser had some corrosion on the inner metal bearing so I replaced them. The surfaces of the seal plate did not seem to be totally flat against the basket housing so I loosened the the basket mount. When I put them together it seem like it only goes into the housing so far and the O-ring does not get pressed enough, although I have not tried surface to surface without the O-ring. It is a new replacement O-ring. I did have the clamp on with the handle facing to the left when looking from the front at the basket end. It was facing to the right so I was going to try changing it to the right. The leak is fast drip when at low RPM(1500) and worse at higher speeds as over 2500-3400 when priming up it squirts out. I can feel the area at the bottom of the pump behind the seal plate and the shaft seal does not seem to be leaking.

Is the diffuser o-ring on the diffuser? if it is make sure it has lube on it, the diffuser o-ring has to be able to slide through the area on the "basket housing" (as you call it) where it seals, trying to join the motor/seal plate assembly to the basket housing with a dry diffuser o-ring is often impossible resulting in a gap where the seal plate to basket housing is concerned making it very difficult to seat the clamp.
Make sure to lube the o-ring, or even remove the o-ring then notice how easy the two halves go together without it, and then clamp it down and see if that stops the leak, it is difficult to walk someone through this, many times though the diffuser o-ring can cause a problem with joining the halves together, and worst case scenario there could be a crack on the basket housing area where the clamp makes contact with, that is difficult to see when there is no clamp pressure on it.

Thank for your help.
I lubed the diffuser o-ring well including inside the basket assembly and clamped it well. After starting again at high RPM , "the worst case scenario" showed up. It was squirting out at high speed and leaking out at lower speed. I was able to see a fracture at the basket housing bend where you indicated. So I will get the new part and hope for the best.

Hi Realaxpooltech, what is the best procedure for attaching the new Tank body assembly, on the work bench, attached to the original plumbing first?
