New to TFP. Let me start by thanking everyone for the wealth of knowledge and experience you have all taken time to share, I have gained so much information already. I am embarking on a pool build and have the preliminary design. I will outline the rest of the build and welcome any input/critique and suggestions to build this right the first time,

Thank you to you all in advance

I am working with a highly recommended pool builder , he also comes with a high price tag !

Some discussion points

1. Should i incorporate another bench from where the wet deck ends to the far wall of the pool...looks like dead space to me...or are the steps into the pool usable as bench

2. What is a fair price for Artistic Pavers installed ....patio paving and for coping? Any alternative pavers that would stay cool and have a contemporary look?

3. PB is set on Jandy equipment and I have the pleasure of paying full retail and get a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty.

4. PB is strongly recommending Pebble Fina for it's smoothness over the Pebble ted finishes.

Welcome to the forum!
Looks great! There are folks on this forum that love to bling things up so I am sure they will give you all kinds of ideas how to pretty it up! Watch your pocketbook!

I am a practical / equipment kind of guy.
You show a chlorinator. I hope that is SWCG? If so, be absolutely sure it is designed for a minimum of 2X your pool volume.

I live in Laughlin so we have the same water. High CH, high TA. So anything you do to be able to manage calcium scaling in splash zones, water lines, etc. will help you. You will get it. Also, be sure to be able to run your pool without alot of aeration most of the time. So minimal spillovers, bubblers, etc. They drive your pH up. That raises your CSI which drives calcium scaling.

No matter what you will be draining the pool every 16-18 months due to calcium buildup in your water. Mine hits 1000 ppm in about 16 months. So plan for that. As it will be gunite you will not want to drain in the summer.

Have fun. A pool is nice in the summer.

take care

Welcome to the forum. Quite a few people on here that have recently completed builds on the Vegas area, myself included. I went with a salt water pool and couldn't be happier.

A couple pled questions for you.

1. Any reason on the three foot shallow end?

2. Did your builder give you a reason for only one pump?

As for the bench, I built a bench similar to what you are thinking about. It turned out to be a great thing. The bench is near the seating area so it provides a place to sit in the pool and still be part of a conversation. Also, put more than one umbrella sleeve. In fact, put them everywhere. Our wet deck is 7x10 and we have five. Also have another five in the decking around the pool. I wish I had about five more. If you need anything at all send me a PM.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR RESPONSES.

1. I will check on the SWCG capacity and make sure it meets the 2X minimum.
2. 3ft minimum was per the pool builder. What would you suggest ?
3. PB did offer a second pump to run the water fall feature( at the same time as the blower for spa) but added another $1000. I was not a big issue for me to run the waterfall and spa at the same time.

I will look into having more Umbrella sleeves installed for sure.

Vegas in the house!
My pool starts at 4ft and we love it! Take a tape measure and measure 3ft on yourself and everyone in your household and see where the water will come. You will realize it's way to shallow. My 6 year old can stand up in our shallow end just as a reference

Howdy neighbor.

Most people feel 3' is too shallow and recommend 3.5' or 4' minimum. I have 3.5' and like it, I wouldn't go less.

What is the water depth on your wet deck?

1. Should i incorporate another bench from where the wet deck ends to the far wall of the pool...looks like dead space to me...or are the steps into the pool usable as bench
I agree that it looks like dead space there, so I'd consider a bench. Steps can be used for seating also.

Sorry, I can't help with the other questions.

Welcome to TFP...looks like a nice project. Give serious thought to SWG over other types, wet deck will be very large and in the Vegas heat it will certainly be warm so I would consider the bubblers, as others have stated 3' is very very shallow. Best of luck...

Love the artistic rendering and layout of your pool. We are just starting this process also and our builder is adamant on Jandy equipment also with the 3 yr. warranty.

As others have mentioned, the 3' shallow end will be very shallow, I'd go at least 3'6". We are doing 3'6" - 5'6" with a bowl shape.

Our pool is 3.5 - 5.5 - 4 originally we were going to go with 3 foot. I'm very glad we changed it. 3' would have been too shallow. Just my opinion here and others can probably chime in but I like that our features are run off a separate pump.

Modified shallow end to 3.5feet

Truclear salt water chlorinator produces 18 grams of chlorine for pools up to 35,000 My pool is approx 15000 gallons.

People had mentioned a need for bubblers in the wet deck, after further discussion with the PB he agreed with the need for an inflow hence had 5 scuppers /waterfall in lieu of bubblers.

I managed to negotiate in an additional pump ( to run the scuppers at the same time as the spa ) and Pebble Sheen finish at cost.
