Lafayette LA Owner Remodel

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to pool ownership and very glad I stumbled upon this site! I just purchased my first home with a pool that needs a bit of work. So far it needs tile, plaster, crack repair, leak repair, and a new multi port valve. I've called some of the swimming pool contractors in the area and got quotes up to $35,000 to complete this work. I have seen on here owner builds but curious if its possible to complete an owner remodel using sub contractors. Any help or recommendations of good plaster and tile guys in the Lafayette Louisiana area would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about Laffayette, but we were going to use Pro Pools in Lake Charles if we went with Gunite. We decided on a vinyl pool b/c of cost. He has an awesome reputation in our area! You could check with them to see if they do reconstruction work that far. Sabine Pools seems to have a love/hate kind of feel here. Not sure about the one in Lafayette. People either love them or hate them, lol.

Hi Logan,
The O/B is usually using subcontractors.

The hard part about it is getting the subs out when you need them due to their other workloads. I believe its the typical OB experience, that subs are going to be more loyal and more likely to be available to Contractors who hire them regularly and the OB 1 Timer, will be towards the bottom of the list of importance for them.

With that said though, there have been numerous successful OB projects by TFPers, even though maybe a bit slow.

Thanks Ill have to give them a call. I have heard the same about sabine in this area too. One guy that came give a quote said it was a sabine build.

Prices are regional but that seems a little high. I guess it all depends on how much "crack repair" and "leak repair" is needed.

Also got another name for you! Cajun Pools in Jennings has been recently bought by a new owner. The new owner has gotten rave reviews in our area. They've been doing so well that they just opened another store here in LC. Might be a better option than using a pool place from here. they have a fb page as well.

Many pool builders sub out gunite, plaster, electrical, decking, fencing and landscaping. I would expect you should not have a problem finding a local plaster company and someone that can help with leak detection and plumbing.
