I have, what I am guessing is a Heyward filter. I was able to find the part number for the multiport valve and it is a replacement for the valve that comes on the Proseries. I just moved into the house and from the looks of things I am guessing the filter sand has never been replaced. Any recommendations for how to tell how much sand I will need when I don't have the label or manual to reference? TIA!!

Nah...replacing is a hassle...unless you've added floc or some other gunky thing, no need to replace sand...lasts forever.

You have unions on all the pipes to the filter, remove them, pop off the multi-port and clean away. Take you less than 1/2 hour.

I am a newbie so will take your advice! thanks!!

Quick question just in case I get in there and the previous owners did add a bunch of Crud that gummed up the sand, I see some charts that say you can measure the diameter of the filter and add sand based on that. the only problem is that the measurements only go up to like 31"? my filter is way wider than that at it's largest area (in the middle). Are they talking about the diameter of the opening where you connect the multiport valve?

Thanks again for the help!!

@MattD75 Can you link me to the chart you are talking about?

What is the height and diameter of the yellow sand vessel? What is the height including the multiport?

Little more info will help me help you!
