Kiddie pool a little cloudy

I have a 450 gallon kiddie pool, which is just big enough that I don't want to dump and refill and would prefer to maintain the water.
No filter though.
I filled about 2 weeks ago with tap water from the hose.
I put a chlorine tablet with floating dispenser on day 3, no cya.
It's now looking a little cloudy, not too bad.
Wondering if I should shock with a cup of bleach?
I only clean it with a skimmer and a hose brush, which vacuums up a little of the dirt on the bottom.
Wondering if it's just suspended dirt rather than algae or caused by no initial chlorine for 3 days.

The reason to drain is not a filter but if there is organics (algae) in the water. The simple test kit recommended in the article will not let you deal with algae.

If just a bit cloudy, and if you know how much CYA you have added to the water, you could raise it to SLAM based on PoolMath and see if it clears it up.

But the safest is to drain and start over following the process described in the article.

Without a pump and filter the chlorine tablet is going to dissolve very slowly and not mix into the bulk of the pool water. It is probably not doing a thing for your pool, as they need moving water to help them erode. If you add a cup of bleach and slam the pool all the dead algae will settle on the floor of the pool and it will cloud the water everytime it is disturbed. If you decide not to drain, it would be in your best interest to invest in a battery powered spa vacuum, like an aquabroom, to clean up the fine debris, and use plain unscented liquid bleach as your chlorine source going forward.

The cloudiness you see now is the dirt and dead algae that has settled on the floor of the pool getting stirred up. Since you don't have a filter to remove it, the debris will continue to accumulate. If you dump the current water and use liquid chlorine daily you will not grow algae, however you will still accumulate dirt that falls into the pool and oxidizes off your body while you are in the pool. You need something to physically remove the dirt from the water to keep the pool clear, as well as adequate chlorine. Without something to remove the dirt you will need to dump and refill weekly to maintain clear water.

Yes it will only pick up dirt that has fallen out of solution. You might could rig up a filter with a submersible pump and a diesel filter bag. Actually the pump posted could work if you replace the hoses with hard pvc that go over the side of the pool.
