Kafco/equator skimmer weir won’t stay in

Im hoping for a solution to the problem I am having with finding an appropriate replacement or fix for the hinge on the weir/door to my kafco equator skimmer. My inground pool is 18 years old and this has been a problem for at least 3 seasons now. The skimmer weir becomes detached and floats into the skimmer after minor movement of the pool water, and won’t draw the water into the skimmer properly.
The skimmer housing has molded clips under water at the base of the entrance to the skimmer that the weir is supposed to snap into. There is one clip on each side of the skimmer opening. The tubular bead of the weir is supposed to snap into the clips and stay put until I pull it off. The tubular part of the weir will not snap into the grooves snugly. The weir seems to be perfectly fine. I think the clips are worn but I’m not ready to break up concrete to remove and replace the whole skimmer housing! I’ve been using duct tape on the tube to tighten the fit but this only lasts a week and attracts algae growth. Frankly this appears to be a very poor design overall!
I read in another forum where someone tried adding epoxy to the weir, but it crumbled off immediately.
Please let me know if you are aware of a replacement door or a permanent fix for this issue that will work with my skimmer, or if there is any way to alter the door I have so that it will again fit properly.

Pics of the clip area and weir door may get some creativity flowing.

Another forum suggested heating the tubular hinge and expanding it slightly with a screwdriver. I tried this, but it is hit or miss and hard to tell if you’re getting it too big to fit. My solution: Take a plastic straw, snip a 1/2” segment off and slit it lengthwise. Fit it over the tubular hinge and pop it down into the clips. Add another layer of straw if it still won’t stay.
