Jandy to Pentair & Polaris to Dolphin

I am in the coping phase of our new pool build. Main design is 92 linear feet rectangle, spa, tanning ledge, and martini table. This will be my second pool build and first with travertine and pebble tech. I’m most fearful of moving from Jandy to Pentair automation. Anyone have this experience who can let me know what main differences I will see? Also, curious if you feel there is anything I should ask my PB about the setup, additional functionality, etc? Also will be moving from blower assisted Polaris 280 to a dolphin electric cleaner - thoughts?

Thanks!

jg,

No pool cleaner will be able to clean around you 'table'... It would not be something I would ever recommend, but it appears to be a little too late.

I am a very biased Pentair kind of guy. I would be just a nervous if I was told I had to move from Pentair to Jandy. I have three pools that all have Pentair equipment.. IntelliFlo pumps, IC40 salt cells, EasyTouch automation systems. At my house I have a large Pentair CCP-520 cartridge filter. I've had the pools for about 10 years. The pumps run 24/7 and they appear just as good today as when I installed them.

If you are not going with a saltwater pool then, in my opinion, you are making a huge mistake.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Note that Pentair has two automation platforms: EasyTouch which works however is the older platform and IntelliCenter the current. I've read other posts recently that they are pricing out roughly the same for similar functionality (# of relays, integrated salt, etc). Since your build is active, consider basing it on IntelliCenter.

My vote is in favor of Robot: low power consumption (no additional pump), aside from a table base, as Jim mentions, my experience is they do a great job and aesthetically (you can leave your robot in all the time, but if you dont) the visual appeal when enjoying your uncluttered pool's view.
