I have 2 Jandy 2444 actuators (to change pool/spa mode jets/drains). They worked perfect last year. I had someone close my pool, then this year someone different opened it. And, the actuators dont work. I can hear them running/vibrating. I thought they were stuck in manual mode but couldn't engage them. He came out and said theyre both bad, $500 to replace both. So, i opened them up. I slid the 2 clear plastic pieces up (pic #1, which I assume puts it back in auto mode). The little dot in what I assume is the motor spins, but the plastic pieces and handle doesn't move. If I move it, the little actuator engages the little orange button on the micro switch and it turns it off, so thats working. Any idea? Odd both stopped working. Gears be an issue? Stripped them by rotating the handle when its not in manual mode?

Found the manual on these valves

http://www.jandy.com/~/media/zodiac/global/downloads/h/h0570800.pdf

Check out page 9 for the manual operation, I think it is different than what you described

also there is a troubleshooting area on page 12

Personally I am not familiar with this brand of actuator

Good diagram in the book and there seems to be replacement parts available from Jandy and other sources

Intermatic makes one heck of a good timer, but I know nothing about their actuators. It says they are 24v and compatible. But I have never used them.

Put the handle and locking knob back on, with the toggle in the neutral position can you turn the shaft, if so turn it one way or the other with a slight upward pressure until it pops up. It means the shaft has engaged with the motor, so then try to toggle one way or the other
