Is pool light faceplate supposed to be flush and sealed?

Drained my pool and got the water line tiles replaced.
i noticed that this pool light fixture is off a bit
Is that gap normal or should I seal it up? Please advice. I stopped filling water above the light last night to make sure I have access to it in case.
Thanks

Nope, not sealed. Most pool lights are in a "wet niche" so water is meant to get in there and keep the light housing cool.

The light fixture sits in the pool light nitch and that is flush with the plaster. The pool light is its own sealed enclosure and hooks to the nitch and usually only has one screw at the top holding everything in place.

Just to be clear you are fine.

Well, depending on how the photo was taken it appears to be upside down. There is normally a little hook at the top and the single screw is at the bottom.

But no, it is not flush and sealed. It looks a littel loose in my opinion though. Again, maybe because it wasn't put back in the nich correctly.

It looks like someone used silicone in the past, but by design that is not necessary. Behind that ring is the light housing and a cord long enough to pull the light housing up on the pool deck to work on it.

I will head home during lunch and see if tightening that screw will do it. I did not touch it at all and maybe it was held in place with the water all this while and "fell down" once it was drained. If its flush with the wall but has a little gap that water can seep in, that's fine? That's what I am hearing.

The photo was taken from top down and the blue at the bottom is the water. The faceplate dropped about half an inch from the opening/niche(?).

Correct

It's installed upside down then. If you remove that screw (It is designed for you to be able to do it lying on the pool deck reaching over the side, but be careful - don't drop the screw) you should see that on the back of that ring there is a little hook on the side opposite the screw. It hooks over a little tab at the top of the niche in the wall. Then the screw is installed at te bottom into a second tab that has a screw hole in it.

Short version: Tightened A bit more now. The plaster is a little concave around the area and made it harder to get a flush fit.

Long version: removed the faceplate and noticed that 2nd tab at the back and the screw are mismatched. The light case is a pentair. The back niche is from 30+ years ago I am sure.

The hard plastic piece was hard to get a flush fit. All in all, it's as tight as it can be. The company doing the work will take another look at it in case I am missing something else.

Thanks
