Is Clarifier Conditioner?

I think you are confusing clarifier with conditioner (also called stabilizer). We use conditioner/stabilizer for CYA to protect the chlorine, but in a very specific ratio (depending on your pool setup) to keep from overdoing it on the CYA.

Clarifier is the liquid stuff that clumps up junk in the water to make it easier to filter out. Unfortunately, it also gums up your filter.

When you have cloudy but blue water, it is either about to turn green (algae bloom) or it has been green and you’ve super-shocked it (but have you really? It depends on your CYA level). If you don’t do the SLAM process, it will go green again. The cloudiness indicates that you haven’t defeated the algae yet.

Also, was never green. Blue when started. Added borax and the clarifier, picture I sent earlier, and that’s when it turned cloudy. PH was 6.8 and CYA was 30
No, you want conditioner/stabilizer (2 marketing terms for the same thing) for CYA. But first read up on pool school here to know what your target should be. Your water is cloudy because of the clarifier. It is meant to clear cloudy water, but too much can actually make the water go cloudy. If you used that thinking it was conditioner (CYA), then you almost certainly went into that “too much” range.

I’m honestly not sure. I’m not familiar with adding that much clarifier. Not sure what it will do to the sand in your filter over time.

First step is to take charge of your own testing and get one of the test kits recommended upthread. It’s hard to rely on information you’re getting from pool stores. Then I would follow the SLAM Process and see if the water clears.
