We are about to begin our install, and we would like to use IPE as the coping on the pool. I just don't know how you would mount the picture frame coping to the pool. We are installing a fiberglass pool. Any advice or suggestions is recommended. My initial thought would be to pour a cantilever coping (but not 2 inches) and screw the board directly into the concrete. If there is a more efficient way, I would interested in hearing, pictures or website links are appreciated as well. I searched both TFP and the internet and came up empty handed with application tips/tricks.

Thanks

When they use wood decking amd coping the pool is built further out of the ground. A deck stringer system is installed and the Wood installed like wood decking. On a fiberglass pool there may be issues with the shape as none are right angle corners so not easy to make look right. I have seen PT lumber glued amd screwed right to the top lip of pool then covered in the finish material. In your pic you posted more that the fascia of the edge border is a another piece of wood, it's not the actual thickness of the decking

Thanks for the info @jimmythegreek, I talked to my GC yesterday and we think we have a way ahead, I will keep everyone posted on the developments and installation. Right now, we have a split decision on what the coping should be...I am leaning towards a stone coping (for ease of install) and the wife wants the IPE...we will see how this plays out.
