Hi all

Bought a beauty pool for xmas, intex graphite pool with sand filter. Problem is, when on filter there is pretty much no water coming through into the pool

I have tried backwashing, rinsing, cleaning the pipes everything. When its on Neutral or recirculate it work FULL ON pumping the water into the pool, yet when I put it on filter, the pressure gauge says the same but no water comes through.

Or - after backwashing cleaning etc. it will have about half the water flow of neutral for 20 mins then it slowly dies of to nothing.

Tearing my hair out literally as the pool is getting dirty and needs the filter, the whole reason we bought it was for the sand filter.

HELP PLEASE!
this is the model/filter here

Welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. From what I understand of your post, the recirculate & neutral positions both return water to the pool, but the filter position does not.

Does 'backwash', 'rinse' & 'waste' send water out the waste port?

If all positions except filter are working there could either be a defect in the multi-port valve, or perhaps something is assembled or installed incorrectly in the sand filter.

I will assume you used a good quality pool-grade filter sand, and removed any packaging items or materials from the filter laterals before adding the sand to the fill level, which is about 2/3 full. Also, were you careful not to get sand inside the central standpipe?

At this point I would empty the filter of all sand, inspect the laterals & standpipe, then re-assemble the filter without sand to see if anything changes. Run it in just the filter position only to see if you get flow. If not, open the filter up and see if water actually entered the filter.

Hi Dom

Thank you so much. I will try that.

Curious of 2 things. 1. Was the issue resolved? and 2). What if (per the advice) none of the settings worked and the only way to get water back into the pool was to put the lever into neutral? That is the problem I am currently having, my filter will only circulate if it is in neutral, no other settings does anything (although I can see water circulating in the clear top holding the basket). I didn't realize this wasn't putting water back into the pool (or sucking in water), so essentially my pool was a stagnate puddle (large one, lol) and after 3 or 4 sunny days then rain, it now looks like a giant algae filled puddle...

I am having the same problem. I have an Intex pool with the sand filter. If I set it to filter, I can barely feel it sucking in water. If I set it to neutral or recirculate, it has great sucking power. Because of this problem, I am sure this is causing some of the algae problem I am having.
