Intex PureSpa cork to fix control unit

Hi guys,

I have the 85" Intex PureSpa bubble massage and I'm having pump issues. Intex is sending me a new pump, but I will have to pull the entire base away from the spa. I don't want to drain the spa in order to do this, so I'm looking for a way to cork the pipes that the water runs through. The pump replacement will literally take 5 minutes.

I found these on the Intex website Spa Inlet/Outlet Plug - Bubble Massage - Replacement Parts - Spas - Store - Intex but I think they're for the ends of the inlet outlet tubes on the outside of the spa. The problem is, as soon as I unhook the control base from the hot tub, water is going to gush out and get all over it. I don't want to risk frying the electronics inside it. Same with putting it back in. As soon as I uncork the pipes and try to plug in the base, water will gush everywhere momentarily and go all over the control base.

I am wondering if there is a way to block off the 2 strainer grids behind the filers inside the hot tub, and the one that brings warm water back into the hot tub.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there a way to block the water flow from inside the hot tub by blocking off the strainer grids? Draining my hot tub for a 5 minute repair just seems unproductive.

The hot tub *should* have come with some rubber/plastic caps to cover those inlets/outlet inside the tub, my 77" Intex spa did.
And yes, that pump....I'm very familiar with said caps and replacing the pumps during the first year of warranty - ended up receiving 3 pumps and 2 base units from Intex during that time. After the warranty was up, I disassembled the pumps and figured out how to fix them, at least for a little while. Maybe the 85" is built better, or maybe it has a new redesigned system, so hopefully this won't be a recurring issue for you.
