Intex hose to pvc

I'm going nuts trying to mate my Intex hoses to new heater. I wanted to avoid going full PVC. Watched a YouTube video where Intex Adapter B fit inside 1 1/4" PVC. So I reduced the heater to 1 1/4 but the PVC cement failed to adhere to the Intex adapter. Any suggestions for a glue that will form a water tight seal between PVC and the smooth adapter B plastic?
