Intermatic Timer - Should manual switch on bottom stay on or off after programmed?

Raw,

Does not really matter, as the first time around it will be correct...

But... if the current time of day is when you want the timer to be off, then move the manual switch to off... If the current time of day is when you want the timer to be on, leave the switch on...

OK...thanks Jim. I was/am having somewhat of a mental block with this I think. I was thinking that manual switch on the bottom was some kind of "override" that allows manual operation regardless of what it being tripped up above, but as I now understand it, that manual switch is precisely what IS being tripped mechanically by those pins. Do I have it right?

Raw,

The switch is an override.. If the timer is off, the switch will turn whatever the timer is controlling on until one of the dogs turns it back off... If the timer is on, the switch will turn it off until the next dog turns it on again.

Keep in mind that there is a difference between the On dogs and the Off dogs... Plus, the manual switch does not work if very close to one of the on/off times... It will appear jammed...

As an example.. if the timer turns off a pool pump at 6 am, when you move the manual switch at 7 am the pool pump will come back on.

Thanks,

Jim R.
