Can the Intelliflo3 with I/O board be used to control a heat pump? What _can_ you control with the relays on the I/O board? I've watched some videos and read the install/user manuals but didn't find any device specific info. The Home app seems to allow for SWG, additional pump and "other". What is "other"?

The relays can power on and off a 5A (left/first relay)(pool light or light transformer or SWG) and a 16A (right/second relay)(another pump or a spa blower, etc.) load. Basically, anything you want to turn on and off within the amp limits of the relay.

Moe,

The relays in the IntelliFlo are made to control relatively low current devices, they are not meant to control the AC current required by a heat pump.

One relay is rated for a max of 16 amps and the other for a max of 5 amps.

In most cases you would wire the heat pump to circuit breaker and just use the IntelliFlo3's relay to control when the heat pump can run or not. Just like the thermostat in your house turns your AC on and off, but it does not directly control the AC going to the Air Conditioning system.

The relays in the IntelliFlo3 can do what you want, but not directly, you'd need to use a contactor. I know nothing about heat pumps, but I assume, just like your house AC, heat pumps have their own internal contactor or relay.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Cool, thanks for the info. So, if I want some kind of integration with the heat pump, I'd need IntelliCenter (or similar), correct?

The system I want is really simple. I just want to be able to put it in pool or spa mode where pool mode changes the two automatic input/output valves to the pool drain/skimmer and floor jets and sets the temp at 85. Spa mode would move the valves to spa drain/jets and increase the temp to 95. I was hoping I could achieve that with this I/O board and not need an automation like IntelliCenter/EasyTouch.
