Intelliflo filter pump not following pool filter schedule - won't shut off when programmed to because of spillway

We are in Phoenix, AZ and just bought a home with a pool that has a raised spa where the water spills over into pool. We have a Pentair Intelliflo variable speed pump. We have a Jandy Aqualink power center box outside next to pool equipment and a Aqualink RS 6 one touch control panel inside our house where you program on and off times of the filter pump, spa, lights, etc.

The previous homeowner had the pump running more hours than necessary and during hottest part of day so we wanted to change to run during the night and for less hours. We figured out how to program the on and off times on the one touch control pad. It turns on when programmed to, but it won’t turn off when programmed to and when I try to manually turn it off at the one touch pad, it shows a message, “filter pump will remain on while spillway is on”. Does anyone know why the spillway doesn’t shut off at the same time as the filter pump is programmed to? Any ideas as to how to fix this?

Welcome to TFP.

SPILLWAY is a seperate circuit from the filter/pump circuit.

Check all of your schedules and One Touch settings for the SPILLWAY circuit.

@PoolGate may know more about your One Touch controller.

I think I may have misspoke in my first post. The message on the screen is "filter pump will remain on while spillover is on". Not Spillway. Is spillover different than spillway?

There is no separate circuit breaker at the box for spillway.

Same thing.

Spillover mode uses the filter pump with suction from the pool and return to the spa.

With automation you have three fixed modes the pool/spa can be in…
  1. POOL mode - water comes from the pool intake/skimmers and out the pool returns.
  2. SPA mode - water comes from the spa suction and out the spa returns/jets
  3. SPILLOVER mode - water comes from the pool intakes/skimmers and out the spa returns/jets
SPILLOVER mode on Aqualink is enabled by dip switch 3. Read Jandy Aqualink RS - Further Reading
