I'm running an electric heat pump into my return on my above ground pool. The heater has an incoming temp gauge on it's display, but I'd love to monitor what the temp of the water coming out is.

Is there an inline heater I could put between the pool and the heater? I think I've got standard 1.5" hosing.

You could, but I would warn about any temperature monitor in PVC too close to the heater. The previous owner mounted it immediately proximal to the gas heater. It ended up leaking a lot and the PVC was deformed with an inward dimpling at the monitor hole from the heat. Excuse the blue pipe sealant on the section from attempts to stop the leak. I had to cut it out, rejoin that piping, and place the monitor between the pump and filter (as recommended) after drilling a new hole.

It's an electric heat pump. I'm not getting any intense heat out of it.
I've no fear of anything melting.

My reason for wanting this there so I can see how many degrees I'm getting out of the heater in a particular condition. Will help me decide whether to bother using the heater at all if it's just not warm or humid enough for it to be effective.

I see that Pentair unit linked above but I don't know how you take that and put it in line. what do you need to screw it in to?

It screws into a T connector that have a 1/2" fpt port.
