I am thinking on trying one.
But not sure if the VRFTH or VRFTHF wll screw all the way into a Hayward SP1023 1-1/2-Inch FIP Inlet Return Fitting

There isn't an O-ring on the back or anything, so screwing all the way in vs not shouldn't affect seal or function.

I have a couple of these that I got last year. They work just fine as returns, but would not say they are better than standard eyeballs. Maybe a slightly steeper angle, but that angle is also not adjustable. It takes some fiddling to get the spout to sit in the direction you want it.

All returns work by the venturi effect. A jet of water pulls the water around it in the same direction. A polaris actually uses the same effect to create its vacuum.
The increased jet on these is due to a smaller opening that a standard 3/4" return. This will give higher velocity, but may decrease overall flow from that return.
