In ground Pool steps installation

Hello,
I have a contractor who installed new steps and a liner. The liner around the steps is exposed. Should I be concerned, I feel like this is not installed correctly.

That's gonna be an issue. The strips get mounted on the actual stairs not the wall panel. This was not a pool contractor? Can you take pics from the inside of pool showing the face better

Were you able to get this resolved with the contractor? I've been dealing with a similar issue.
