Don't think of peroxide is a safe alternative to chorine. It is an oxidant. People take antioxidants for their health all the time. This is not safer than chlorine.

Let's point out that the main pool sanitizers are oxidizers, just not as harsh as peroxide. It appears that H2O2 has more oxidizing potential and free radical formation. It is more harmful than chlorine.
Hydrogen peroxide - Wikipedia
H2O2 (vaporized) can be used to sterilize medical instruments. That means there is nothing living after treatment. Certainly this would include humans subjected to the same treatment. Chlorine is not effective enough to use as a sterilizing agent. H2O2 is a stronger oxidizing agent than chlorine. Chlorine used in tap water and pools is generally recognized as safe to humans at these levels. Proper sanitation with chlorine is the gold standard method. I'm sure that others are looking for alternatives, but it will be a while before anything has the efficacy and safety of the proven pool sanitizer - chlorine.
Bromine / chlorine are both halogens - group VIIA from the periodic table with similar chemical properties.
Chlorine in drinking water is consumed by humans on a daily basis for their entire lives.
Biguanines (Baquacil) are taken by humans as a drug. Metformin is the common example. People consume metformin for diabetes twice a day for years on end with no ill effects.
Try drinking H2O2. It is such an irritant, it will make you vomit. It is used to produce vomiting in animals who have ingested toxins. (It's noted that the concenteration is higher than that in a pool).
Additionally, H2O2 is a mutagen (causes mutations in cells - "mistakes" with DNA replication) and a probable carcinogen.
To believe that H2O2 is safer than chlorine is to be uninformed.
