HTH Shock System NIGHTMARE!

I was desperate for a crystal blue book so I used this HTH Shocking system that contains a 2 step process of pouring granulated shock and brown flocculent. All the algae sunk to the bottom of my pool and the pool looked clear. But as soon as I attempted to vacuum through my cartridge filter it ruined my pool. I’ve tested the water and the levels are where they should be but my pool is still green. I’ve tried everything and nothing has worked. Anyone else get this shocking system and had success with getting it out of pool without draining?

We advise against flocc. It ruins filter media and needs to be vacuumed to waste.

Thanks for the welcome! I brought my water in for testing at my local pool store. They said I needed to add more shock and alkalinity as the test stated I need more.

Seem like no amount of shock will clear the pool. I’m scared I will have to drain my pool go get this stuff out. At this point I reached out to a pool service that said they can come and vacuum to waste but the particles have to sink back to the bottom of the pool for that to be successful. How do I get that to happen without reapplying the flocculent?

We do things differently here. We test with a reliable test kit, which the free test at the pool store isn't, nor is it free when it's designed to sell you things. Using the at home testing, we then dose accordingly to what the pool needs.

Ok I’ll be ordering the TF-100 kit. In the meantime I have a kit that came with my pool last year but it only tests for PH BR CL. My PH is sky high over 8.2, BL 2.2, CL 1.0
