Is there a way, without taking the filter cartridge out, to know what cartridge to buy? I see three model numbers on the outside...

You need to determine which model you have. Measure the height of the filter housing and compare to the dimensions shown on the Hayward website.

Is this the only label on the filter. Sometimes they put a punch out on the label by the model it is placed on.
Alternatively, you can look at the specs for each model such as the diameter of the housing as that may be different for each model.

thanks for the picture but I could not correlate that to any specific model. The difference between the models is the height of the filter. Specifically, the top half of the filter is different for the 3 models shown, and the height of filter cartridge therefore is also different. I could not find info on Hayward website to help but I did find that the C900 cartridge is 21inches high and the C1200 is 23 1/8 inches high, so you may need to remove the cartridge and measure it then compare. Hope this helps.
I would purchase from a reputable filter cartridge company.

Thanks! Yes, I am reading C17502 and looks like my height is around 44" or so to the top of the filter. Should be good with the C17502. Seems like a big filter for my dinky pool size. I'll look into a Pleatco solution! Thanks
