I am having network trouble with my Hayward Omni Logic (and wifi) and hoping I can tap the mindshare here and some ideas.
Main Question - To use a WIRED connection, does the Hayward need to be configured specially for Wired vs WiFi?
In a nutshell, 6 years with no trouble at all with the wifi. Then the feature pump died and I had a local pool installer replace it. The tech had to upgrade the firmware (which had never been done since it was installed in 2017) and after that, the wifi never worked again. They tried everything, they worked with the Hayward tech rep, sold me a new antenna (same result) and finally told me the equipment was too old and recommended I hard-wire it to my router. No problem, as a test, I ran a cable straight from router's LAN ports to the Hayward unit. It dynamically picked up an IP address from DHCP right away, but I was unable to connect from the web or app. Using my laptop, I connected it to the same cable, good strong connection to the internet. I gave the Hayward a static IP address, no change. If I ping from my laptop or use some network tools from my iphone, it seems to connect and respond for about 20 seconds then drop the connection and a few seconds before reconnecting. I logged into the router and I can see the Ethernet interface up and connected to 100 full-duplex, then disconnects every few seconds. Tried a different cable, no change. Tried playing with the interface settings, currently forced to 100 full-duplex since that is what it auto negotiated to.
I'm beginning to think the network interface in the Hayward touch screen is going bad - or maybe not compatible with the firmware updates? Back to my initial question - does anyone know if there is a configuration setting to tell it to use hard-wire vs wifi? I could not find anything like that in the menus - I did not try the config wizard. I wonder if there is a hidden setting for this and it keeps disconnecting because of this. I hope so because the touch panel is over $700! Thanks in advance.
