As I sit in my spa awaiting my faulty saltron mini cell replacement I now ponder the question, “Is the problem actually my control box?”
For those that are long term users of the saltron mini - how long did the controller last for you?
My controller is 3 1/2 years old, my most recent cell that was roughly 19 months old started throwing the low salt error intermittently. I tested the salt & it was fine so like a proactive spa owner, I ordered one July 14 from spa depot. It came several days later, I plugged it in, it ran a 1 hour cycle with plenty of chlorine gas bubbles
The next cycle came & went - no problem
The next cycle I got the (- - hr) on the display. This means there’s a bad connection/short circuit or the cell isn’t in the water. Checked connections etc. nothing visually seemed wrong so I disconnected it & put my old dying cell back in. Old cell behaved just as before, intermittent production & intermittent low salt light. But now it is giving me the ( - - hr)error sometimes
Contacted spa depot whom advised me rather quickly that it was a warranty claim & to take it up with solaxx. Which I did immediately, went through the claims process etc.
It’s been a month & a half- still no cell
Many calls & emails to solaxx to follow up with multiple reassurances that they are sending me one & I will be emailed tracking info but no joy so far ...
I am already out $150 so I really can’t afford to buy a whole new system which is the only way to get a controller to test my theory. Nor can I afford at this time to just get a different brand of system.
I am contemplating my options as I manually chlorinate for the meantime.
Any advice on how to proceed in troubleshooting my controller or dealing with Solaxx would be great.
