Hi, all! What do you use to clean your pool cover? We tried hosing it off, but when it dried there was still dirt, pollen, and algae on both sides.

My cover is a thick safety cover with metal springs that attach to the concrete deck. It has a mesh looking center square which allows water to drain into the pool, but nothing else gets through. Mesh is probably not the right word because you can't see through it. I am not sure if we use a cleaner or diluted bleach or what? I don't think it would be a good idea to use a power washer.

So...how do you clean your cover?

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks. I watched the video, but it didn't say whether to dry the cover or not. They just hosed it off then folded it and put it in the bag.

We have been having our house's vinyl siding removed and new Smartsiding installed. It has taken months and is a little over half way through. So we couldn't take the cover off until that side of the house was finished. The day the contractor finished that section, I removed the cover, but too late to beat the algae on the cover.

Most of the cover is blue vinyl tarp, very thick. But, the center square is mesh. That's where the algae is. Will the algae die on its own if left in the sun to dry? I don't want to kill my grass by leaving it too long.

I am concerned about accidentally leaving some algae that I can't see. Then having a problem when I get the cover out again. I'd rather do it right the first time.

I am trying to find the brand of the cover so I can look for their directions.
thabks, again.

Algae out of the water will die. Dead algae isn’t really a problem for the strong material the cover is made of. Clean it the best you can within reason, let it dry, put it in the sack, close the sack and store.

Theoretically you can close it still wet if it’s going in a palace that is humidity controlled because the bag and cover are mesh so it will dry out by itself. That said, I’d prefer to let it dry first.
