How do I turn on the water for my slide

Hello all.

New to this forum. Just bought a house with a pool and two pumps. It also has a waterslide feature which I'm having a heck of a time turning on. I've attached a picture of the setup for reference.

There used to be an above ground hot tub but that was removed previously. I figured maybe the pump on the left was for that because when I turn it on and turn the 3 way valve, nothing happens at all. Then again, I don't think hot tubs have pumps this size, do they?

The pump on the right is functioning properly.

If anyone has any ideas I'd greatly appreciate it.

Lo,

Show us a pic of the slide..

If a big slide, it would need a lot of water so maybe the pump on the left is for the slide..

What kind of spa was there?? If a standalone spa, it would not have an external pump.

If a raised spa, then it would also have to connect to your filter, so kind of odd..

I noticed that the pump on the left has two output pipes controlled by a Jandy valve. Do you have any other water features like a waterfall or ???

What happens when you turn the pump on the left on?

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks for the quick response, Jim. I'll snap a pic when I get home.

I figured the pump on the left was for the slide but the valve on it does nothing. Does it need to be primed? I don't think the pump has been turned on in a while and when I turn it on it appears to be dry looking through the lid. I let it run for some time on each valve setting. Still nothing.

Lo,

Open the lid and fill it with water and close the lid. Don't worry about any water that drains back into the suction pipe, that is normal.

Turn on the pump and see if it primes. May take a minute or two.. I would not run longer than 2 minutes unless you start to see water coming into the pump basket then you are ok..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Take a close look at the pump lid. It looks like it has some significant damage around the edge. This lid needs to be airtight to provide a good suction for priming and operation.

Open that box/panel
Take a picture of it
The breakers may be labeled & you can trace the wire to the whip for that pump

Take a pic of the slide as well - newer molded ones usually have a simple ball valve or similar near the base that turns the water on & off.
