Hot Tub Options: Acrylic vs. Plastic with Speakers"

I'm seriously considering purchasing a hot tub and considering acrylic tubs with speakers. Was told plastic is more durable than acrylic and tubs with speakers are pointless because you barely hear your music over the jets and pump. Is this true? Are tubs with BT speakers overrated? Please let me know what your experience has been.

Acrylic is a plastic so not sure what the difference is there, maybe they meant fiberglass?

It's less about material and more about construction. There are well-made and POS examples of every material. There are even acrylic on plastic tubs. Not sure where you're getting your info, but it's not necessarily accurate.
Stereos are only outdone by TVs in the bad idea department, and not just because you can't hear them from in the spa.

I have a small BT speaker. Works well. It sits on top of the waterfall with the cover behind it. Easy to replace.

The speakers need to be out from under the cover to have a chance of lasting. Sundance has spots outside where the cover sits, so they are not always in the hot humid air.

My Bullfrog has built in speakers. They are under the shell, right by where you head is when you are in the tub. There is also a subwoofer under the shell.

They do work surprisingly well. I got them because it was a free promotion. Not sure I would have paid for them if I had to, but now that I have them, I do enjoy using them.

I have yard speakers too, but you have to have them cranked up to hear them in the tub. With the build in speakers I can keep things at a much lower volume and still hear it.

I for 1 would not incorporate nor pay for speakers on a HT. Waste of $ Imo, better off with BT separately from the unit. And less things to go wrong as well, you can buy alot of BT speakers for what they want to charge. I have an Arcrylic/ Fiberglass tub and it is very solid and well built. Not sure I have seen a all plastic 1 though. Even most household tubs are Arcrylic,, other than cultured stone 1,s and those are expensive.

I have a roto molded tub & I like it just fine.
It seems as robust as a yeti cooler & those can fend off a bear 🐻 lol 😂
I have a free echo dot mounted to the ceiling near my tub as our “outdoor stereo” and it is plenty for the pool deck & patio. Alexa hears us & we hear it just fine with the jets going. I like my hot tub to be as simple as possible- less to break!
