Hole in travertine coping

Apologies if this should be posted somewhere else.

We are just about in the middle of re-doing our pool. We have a 13,000 gallon in ground pool that was just a plaster finish with normal tile and red brick bullnose coping.

We're having it re-done with wet edge prism matrix, new travertine tile and coping around the pool, plus having an overflow drain, new lights, and a new filter installed.

So far everything has been fine, but I'm just trying to see if I'm just being to picky or not. I've noticed that the travertine coping has some small holes in it. Mostly very small, and not a big deal, but one of the coping tiles by the steps has about a quarter size chip in it. Is this normal for travertine, or should I be asking the renovation company to replace that coping piece even though it's already been set? I'm attaching a picture of the chip. Am I just being to picky? Should that be replaced, or just make sure they cover it with grout or something?

I can try to get a better picture in the morning when it's not dark out and using my phone as a light lol.

Thank you for any insight.

TMD,
I know that I may be stating the obvious, but I'd say that if you can't live with it, don't. I myself am a bit particular and if the other pieces don't look like that, then I wouldn't be cool with that one looking like that. Now is the time to fix it. A grinding wheel and a couple of hours is all it takes. It won't even be on the GC's mind 2 weeks from now, and you will be left looking at it like a chicken staring at a door knob for eternity. Good luck man!

Greg.

Travertine is a natural stone, not a man made product so there will always be some variability to it.

We just had our whole deck installed with Travertine and I love the holes and texture. For me the more the better.

I will say for the Travertine we love how it doesn't feel hot or too slippery when walking on it. Houston summer heat is pretty warm and the stone was pleasant to walk on after being in the sun all day!

Thanks everyone.

I did talk to the company doing our remodel and he was gong to check out the chip. It's just that this one at least to me looked more like something had fallen on it and chipped it.

I think I just got use to the smooth no hole brick pavers we had before. I am looking forward to seeing how it compares in regards to retaining heat in the middle of the summer vs the old red brick pavers we had before.
