Hello!

After too many error "low salt" messages on my Intex SWG I have decided to get rid of it and go to just straight chlorine. I am in Phoenix, so obvi it's ridiculously hot and the water evaporates quickly. I am wondering which would be better switching over to use liquid or tablets and the pros and cons of each. I have gone on YT and gotten all kinds of info but everyone suggest something different from each other. I appreciate any help you guys are able to provide!

I have an 18ft Coleman and a sand filter.

Thank you!

Welp. Each tab will raise your CYA by 6ppm. It's gonna spiral out of control quickly. Each week you will need to add more FC to sanitize at the same level. All levels below are considered equal.

Did you ever measure your actual salt levels? Your SWCG might have been trying to tell you something.

K-1766 Taylor test is what you need to test salt content in your pool water.

Yes I tested it multiple times and it was always at the right level. I also cleaned the sensors in the SWG with vinegar and tried a couple other things to get rid of the error message. I was considering getting another one because I would rather keep it salt but don't want to deal with this all over again since the generator I have only had since August and barely used before that.

Sadly, they aren't the most robust units. Folks used to find them on clearance for $100 at the end of the season and buy them by the handful.

I've seen salt errors be calcium scaling before on those, and folks by you have crazy CH.

Does the unit foul up ? Or is it always totally clean ?

What's your TA ?

what kind of SWCG do you have?

Also, be aware that cleaning the plates whether you use a vinegar or muriatic acid solution does lower their useful life. So only do that when absolutely necessary.
