HI everyone. We have beautiful travertine coping. It is so slippery. The constant message around the pool is, "Be careful, it's slippery right there." BUT people still slip and some have fallen. It's dangerous. What can I do to rough it up a bit?

TIA,
Solly

I have travertine coping and 3400sqft of deck. It is definitely not slippery for me and certainly less slippery than neighbors stamped concrete. Have you sealed it with anything other than a penetrating sealer? Then again I have tumbled travertine not honed and filled. The one thing that does make it slippery is when people show up with kids and think it is ok to hose them down with spray sunscreen on the deck. Wet feet and a sunscreen slick are not a good combination.

If you have sealed it with something other than a penetrating sealer then perhaps a vigorous pressure wash then if you must seal it with a penetrating sealer. If it is honed then there are some non-slip sealers that add a bit of grit.
