Hello. New to the forum and would like help on correctly wiring up my first Pentair Easytouch 8 panel.
Equipment needing hooked up: Ultratemp Heatpump, filter pump and (3) Globerite color changing LED lights. One of the lights is a bubbler light and they are all coming on at the same time for now.

Panel is fed from main house panel with a 90 amp 2 pole breaker.

What I think I understand from the Pentais manuals.......main feeder wires into the lugs on breaker busbar........ 1): Filter Pump: Wires from 2 pole 20 amp GFCI breaker for filter pump to relay marked 'FILTER PUMP', from pump relay out to pump......2) Heat Pump: wires from 2 pole 50 amp breaker for heat pump to special purpose relay marked 'ELTC HTR' then from relay out to heat pump. Also looks like I need a cable from heat pump control board to the Easytouch panel? Not sure type and how many conductor cable needed and what termianls to hook to on each end.........3) LED lights: from single pole breaker a hot and neutral to switch or IntelliBrite Controller (no neutral connection at switch, just passing through here) to 120 volt side of step down transformer. Cords from the (3) lights go into the low voltage side of transformer. Wiring diagram in transformer box says the orange is the common which I assume I will tie all (3) white wires from each of the lights to and the black wires from the lights to the wire color for 12 volt.........4) EasyTouch Transeiver: mount somewhere near the panel and connect the (4) conductor cable from the Transeiver to Comport (J20) in the panel.

Any input / clarification is appreciated. Also if someone has or can draw a line diagram on how all this equipment gets hooked up would be huge.

Thank you!

What brand and model of pump are you hooking up to the ET?

We have some very proficient ET/Pentair members whom will respond soon.

Take care.

Hello. New to the forum and would like help on correctly wiring up my first Pentair Easytouch 8 panel.

Main feeder wires into the lugs on breaker bus bar........ correct..

Filter Pump: Wires from 2 pole 20 amp GFCI breaker for filter pump to relay marked 'FILTER PUMP', from pump relay out to pump..... Only if you are using a single speed pump.. Two speed pump requires a special relay and a VS pump does NOT get connected to any relay.

Heat Pump: wires from 2 pole 50 amp breaker for heat pump to special purpose relay marked 'ELTC HTR' then from relay out to heat pump. Absolutely NOT!! AC power from Circuit Breaker directly to Heat Pump. All connections to the main board are for low voltage controls.

Also looks like I need a cable from heat pump control board to the Easytouch panel? Not sure type and how many conductor cable needed and what termianls to hook to on each end... Can't say unless we know the exact model of Heat pump.

LED lights: from single pole breaker a hot and neutral to switch or IntelliBrite Controller (no neutral connection at switch, just passing through here) to 120 volt side of step down transformer. Cords from the (3) lights go into the low voltage side of transformer. Wiring diagram in transformer box says the orange is the common which I assume I will tie all (3) white wires from each of the lights to and the black wires from the lights to the wire color for 12 volt.........4) Your would run this power through a relay to be able to control the lights.. would not use controller if using the EasyTouch to control the lights...

EasyTouch Transeiver: mount somewhere near the panel and connect the (4) conductor cable from the Transeiver to Comport (J20) in the panel. Correct.

Any input / clarification is appreciated. Also if someone has or can draw a line diagram on how all this equipment gets hooked up would be huge.

Thank you!

Is this your pool or are you installing this for someone else to use?

Please tell us more about the pool...

Does it have Spa?

Are there any water features?

Do you have any automated valves?

Do you have the EasyTouch or the IntelliTouch?

Do you have ScreenLogic?

Is this a saltwater pool?

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hi Jim.

I forgot to get the model number from heat pump. It has a control panel on it. Nameplate is: Minimum circuit ampacity of 42, Minimum circuit protection 50 and Maximum circuit ampacity 70. Looks like I need a 2 conductor cable from J8 of heat pump control board to load center IntelliTouch Control Personality Circuit Board terminal J7 or J8?

This is a fresh water pool only. No spa.

Pool guy left 1 automated valve. Where does this go? Seems there should be at least 2 automated valves to work in conjunction with one another?

Only water features are (3) LED lights. One of these is a bubbler light. All them will be connected together and coming ON/OFF at the same time. These are supposed to wire into the low voltage transformer which will be controlled via a switch or do we bypass the switch beings he has a wireless control panel? Not sure.

Panel is a EasyTouch Control System 8. Has the 150 amp high voltage compartment with 8 breaker spaces and the system transformer. Located in this panel as well and above the high voltage compartment is the Control System Control Panel (EasyTouch). Just above the breakers are (4) auxiliary relays.

Does the system transformer get powered from it's own 20 amp 2 pole breaker?

Far as the wireless goes at this time......I only know that the Transeiver gets mounted next to panel and the cable gets hooked J20 in the panel control board.

Sorry for the late reply!

Any help is appreciated.

Oh and the pump I believe is just a single speed pump. No control panel on this pump. Just the pekerhead (as some call it) where the 240 volt power hooks up to.

P,

The basic problem you are having, is that the manual covers several Pentair automation systems. While they are similar, they are not the same.

You have an EasyTouch 4 without a salt system power supply. You need to disregard all instructions related to the IntelliTouch system.

Please see my answers below...

The EasyTouch does not have the Personality Board. To control the heater by serial data, you would connect the 2 wire cable to the main board Com port at J20..

This is a fresh water pool only. No spa.

Pool guy left 1 automated valve. Where does this go? Seems there should be at least 2 automated valves to work in conjunction with one another? I would have thought two valves also, but you don't have anything to work in "conjunction" with, as you don't have a Spa. This eliminates using the Intake or Return valves. The only two valves you can control are the A and B valves. You don't have to use a valve, but I would use it to turn on/off the water features.

Only water features are (3) LED lights. One of these is a bubbler light. All them will be connected together and coming ON/OFF at the same time. These are supposed to wire into the low voltage transformer which will be controlled via a switch or do we bypass the switch beings he has a wireless control panel? Not sure. The EasyTouch will control the lights, but to do that you need to route the AC voltage going to the light transformer through one of the Aux relays... (Do not use the Pump/Filter relay for this..

Since you only have 4 relays, this means that you have an EasyTouch 4..

Does the system transformer get powered from it's own 20 amp 2 pole breaker? You can get power from a separate breaker or the pump's breaker.. Just make sure you wire it for the voltage you need as the transformer can be wired for 120 or 220 volts.. it is up to you.

Far as the wireless goes at this time......I only know that the Transeiver gets mounted next to panel and the cable gets hooked J20 in the panel control board. That is just half the system. There has to be another transceiver inside the house. If this is ScreenLogic, it will then be connected to the homes LAN system.

You did not answer my question.. is this install for your pool or is this for someone else's pool. It is only a technicality, but I need to know if you do this as part of being in a pool related business or for yourself???Sorry for the late reply!

Any help is appreciated.

Oh and the pump I believe is just a single speed pump. No control panel on this pump. Just the pekerhead (as some call it) where the 240 volt power hooks up to. For a Single speed pump, you want to run the AC power from the GFCI breaker through the Pump/Filter relay and then to the pump.

Below are model numbers from equipment along with some photos. Couple more photos to follow this post.
Filter pump: PENTAIR WHISPERFLO high performance. motor #196234
Heat pump: ULTRATEMP 120
Low voltage transformer: PS300

Well, I got a message that i was over my limit on photos. Not sure how to get past that in order to post more photos......

anyhow, the controls we have are the EasyTouch Control System which has (4) buttons: SPA / AUX1 / AUX2 / AUX3. the box this controller and reciever came is was labeled WIRELESS 4 AUX EASYTCH.

Jim, below responses to questions.

Is this your pool or are you installing this for someone else to use? This is a friends pool. Pool is installed, full of water and plumbing is done.

Please tell us more about the pool....Underground fiber formed pool. There are steps formed int the pool along one side leading into the depths of the pool. No diving board. No attached ladders.

Does it have Spa? Pool only.

Are there any water features?(3) LED lights. one is a bubbler light.

Do you have any automated valves? One automated valve which was not installed. The pool guy / plumber did not install this.

Do you have the EasyTouch or the IntelliTouch? panel is in below photo
attachment.php

Do you have ScreenLogic? No. But does have the wireless EasyTouch Control System

Is this a saltwater pool? No.

P,

If the valve that controls the bubblers is a Jandy style valve, then you can install the actuator on that valve. This would allow you to turn the bubblers on or off using your remote.

There are two kinds of wireless controls.. One uses a Pentair box with a little display on it that you can use to control the EasyTouch. The other is ScreenLogic which let's you use your PC, Phone, or Tablet to control the EasyTouch.

Thanks for posting and let me know when you have anymore questions..

Ok.....your comment on the valve operating the bubbler makes sense. The valve is on a T fitting in the pipe from the heat pump. The other 2 valves will end up being manual that are going to and from the pump. If my understanding on this is correct.

And for the Screen logic, he does not have this. He has the controller that will control the EasyTouch.

Just to clarify: the heat pump get wired directly to the breaker and NOT to any relays. It will be controlled via the wireless through the com cable installed between the heat pump and the EasyTouch control board.

As far as the pump goes, can you verify that this pump model (posted in above photos) does NOT get connected to the pump relay? If not connected to the relay and only connected to a 2 pole GFI breaker, how is it turned ON/OFF other than with the breaker? Seems it should be connected to the load side of the FLTR PUMP relay in order to control it via the wireless...

Thank you for your patience!! New to forums.;)

P,

You are correct about the pump..

You may have missed it, but I said "For a Single speed pump, you want to run the AC power from the GFCI breaker through the Pump/Filter relay and then to the pump."

What you have is a single speed pump.

Thanks,

Hi guys.

Wiring lights to PS300 transformer. Do all the whites tie to the orange common and all the blacks tie to one of the other wire (depending on length of wire to lights)? Other 2 wires from transformer just get capped off?

Thanks
