I am trying to decide on Travertine vs Pavers. I love the look of natural stone but more of a flagstone girl myself. Due to the obvious benefits, HB wants to go with Travertine. I can get past the holes and imperfections as they blend with nature. However the color is driving me nuts....I am ok with beige but I've seen pictures of the travertine that appear more gold and that is not a tone I think I can live with all over our yard(pavers will around pool and attached patio and covering most of our short but wide yard. These are both walnut travertine. Why the difference. I hate one and love the other. Need advise please...headed for divorce if job isn't done asap! Thank you in advance.

Travertine is wonderful in all it's natural variations. We went with silver for the reason that we could not be satisfied that the darker colors would not have too much dark color variation included. The lighter beige or walnuts in an even/light color variation looked good, but some of the rustica had much color variation, and once you got to some of the gold or darker colors, it looked neat on the wall of the store, but thankfully we were advised by folks that once you get a backyard full of it, it's super busy on the eyes and we would hate it. Best advise is to not pick a color off a chart by name, as it's no where near all the same. See if you can go to the stone vendor and see it as stocked.
Case in point, the silver was our last pick off the charts. At the store, they had an outside deck sample where they had hand picked and matched the color so well, it looked no better than a cement slab. But, once we saw some they had laid out in variation with some blending, it started to pop and looked wonderful.

Thank you so much. I think you are so right. I have a board here that our contractor left us and it is so misleading. Ironically, I would have picked the Antico based solely on this board as well. We have also seen other colors in person on a larger scale but even the same colors can seem different depending on time of day, season, environment. I actually love the silver(we saw it at one of our contractors jobs) but have virtually ruled it out bc our house is tan and husband prefers tans:-(.I'd love to see a picture of yours! So happy you like it! I have attached a picture of one of the walnut homes we saw....

I strongly second the idea of going to the stone yard to see it in person. Each batch is very different. The wall samples and such have had hands all over them as well as sun and cleaners on them. They are just a small sample of what it could look like.

We were planning on ivory initially but had the exact same concern that it would look yellow. It looked fine in the show room but after looking at some pics online we decided to do silver instead and I am very happy we did. Ours buts up to a concrete covered patio and the silver looks great against it. It still has a little brown/cream in it but for sure not yellow.

The mixed browns and darker colors is what helps it look good. To get 100% silver, you would have to hand color-select each piece, where that is what the stone retailer did in their floor sample we first didn't like - it had no character, looked like a grey slab. On the pallet load, it looks more random-like, like it came from nature.

Yep that was what we saw too and all the sample pieces were really dark which was the reason we didn't go with it initially thought it would get too hot but love the blend of colors and character on the final results.
Wow....thank you!! This is so helpful. It's such a relief to hear from people with the same concerns. I too have a sample of silver that looks very dark, which initially deterred us from considering it. However after seeing it in person I am very tempted! It does have a lot of tans in it. Yours has a surprising amount of browns it in and I absolutely LOVE it! No yellow!
