Hi all new to the forum & thanks for any help in advance, greatly appreciated. Have to install a new filtration system & wanted to get a few opinions. We have 24'x52" AGP with a Aquatrol salt water system. Our old system is a Hayward EC50 DE system & we started getting some leaks and things. I am looking at the Hayward 150 Extreme cartridge filter system & also the AquaPro 190 cartridge filter system. I know Hayward is the big name & there are dealers all over & have a good reputation. I don't know much about AquaPro. Can anyone Please give me some info on them. Are they a good company ? Are the pumps any good? Do they have good customer service & do they stand behind the products they offer ? How many people out here are running AquaPro? Any help & advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks kimkats, I had a pool guy over to the house today & he recommends to stay with a DE filter instead of cartridge. We also need a new liner & I am not sure if I want to tackle it myself or hire him to do it. With me supplying the Liner he wanted $1000.00 to take out the old liner, make sure sand is all level, inspect everything, install wall foam, ( he will supply foam ) and install Liner. I don't know if that is average price, Hi or low. I never did a liner before so I am not sure how difficult it is. I am pretty handy.

He wants $1000??? That is 3 zeros!!! To INSTALL the liner????? Let me put it into perspective for you, knowing I live in FL, we only paid $400 to put up our WHOLE pool!!!! The ground was just level and did need some smoothing. We had a pool on it before that we took down when the liner gave out. This was for laying the bottom track, repositioning the blocks and making them level in their new spot, filling in where they were, on and on. SO $1000 is CRAZY for just putting in a liner! If you have a friend or two I think you could put it in on your own. There are LOTS of videos on how to do it. Here is one: How To Install Above Ground Pool Liners - INYOPools.com

Now you will have to find a way to get rid of the old liner. You could cut it up and put a roll at a time in the garbage can each week or you could throw it in the back of the truck and take it down to the local dump. You might have to pay for that one.

Now time is money so see if you can get some different quotes if your wallet is fat enough.

Hi Kim, Yea. my wife & I thought it was a lot of money. The Liner is costing us $550.00 ( wife wants this certain design.) Here is his breakdown.
Liner install- $650.00
Wall foam & adhesive + install- $350.00 ( he will supply wall foam & adhesive )
We also have to purchase a new pump & filter, that's why I originally posted this thread.
So far we have contacted a few different pool places and they all want around the same price. $1500.00/ &1650.00 for Liner & install with no wall foam included. If we have to go that route by the time we are done we are looking at an easy $2000.00 bill by the time we add the new filter system. A lot of money. I might try to watch some videos & do some research & tackle it myself.
As far as the AquaPro I might stay away from them as the closest dealer I can find is in Brooklyn N.Y. about 2 hours from me. i might just stay with Hayward or check into Pentair. I do know this though, I have to get this done ASAP to keep everyone happy.

I would not bother with the wall foam. No real value in it. You lose all of the heat out the top of the pool and the foam is so thin it really does not cushion the sides. THEN if the glue lets go you have to take the liner down to reposition or remove it.

I REALLY think you can install it with some people who can follow directions and work as a team!

I do have a couple buddy's that have done a couple liners in the past that are going to help me. I was thinking wall foam as we do have some slight corrosion on the one section of the wall were the liner had the leak. There is actually a couple of pinholes in the side of the wall where I seen water coming out. The pool is only 8-9 years old. ( Esther Williams Pool ) We was told top of the line when purchased & installed. I am sure corrosion is do to combo of leak & saltwater system. Perhaps I will skip the wall foam if you really think it will be more trouble then what it's worth., want to avoid more problems down the road.

Thanks

Jim

You can and should fix the holes........sanding, priming, and painting..........then put something over them on the inside to keep it from poking the new liner. IF you buy a LOT of glue and make sure to cover every inch of the foam to keep it from slipping or falling.
